Helen Rice

Helen Rice was admitted to the New Zealand bar in 1988.
Helen gained general litigation and resource management experience in Auckland before moving to London for a number of years. In London, Helen worked for a major UK commercial law firm building on her commercial litigation and dispute resolution experience.
On her return to New Zealand in 1992, Helen began working with David Heaney and Susan Thodey. Over the next 17 years she has continued to work with them taking a short break for 3 years when she worked for a national firm specialising in resource management litigation.
Helen has extensive experience in acting on behalf of local government and is an ardent supporter of alternative dispute resolution. She is well respected for her expertise in that area and has recently presented a series of seminars on behalf of the New Zealand Law Society on referring matters to alternative dispute resolution.
Helen was appointed a partner in 2002.
